Hosted at Camp Copneconic near Fenton, Michigan, this three day conference is a staple for YMCA camp professionals in the Mid-West. I will be giving the keynote address on Thursday morning followed by two interest sessions. The keynote will explore the current social environment for children in the United States with respect to technology, play and character. Titled, “Building Character at Camp in the Age of Technology,” the talk will not only look at the most recent statistics related to technology as it affects the lives of children, but what camps can do to enhance the building of character. The two interest sessions are titled, “Sugar, Spice, Not Always So Nice,” and focuses on social aggressive behavior in girls; and “Snips, Snails and Puppy Dog Tails,” and focuses on critical issues for boys and how these issues affect bullying behavior in boys.
